i have a question about gearing! My vdf is in the mail but would like to know if my 22t rearcenter and the 13t front center oneway would work with stock belts and diff pulleys.

Feel free to answer in this topic. http://www.csjunkies.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=938

Hi everyone. I did a few more mods to my VDF last week, ever since I built it I have wanted to improve the steering set up and get rid of the extensions on the front hubs.
I have swapped the arms and servo side to side and run them upside down with a spacer and a bit of a trim here and there.
So far it seems to work very well and gives more steering angle too.

Hamster, How are you?
Its easy, The chassis is a mirror image side to side. Put some masking on the side of the chassis you want to redrill and work it out with a compass off the side Tamiya drilled for you and transfer them over.
I will update my post I have done a bit more since my last one.

I am good bro been some time i log on to the forum, ok got what you mean, but is it ok if i just inverted the link and not switching the servo position ? And i would like to ask why do you want to switch the servo over ? it is for weight balancing ? Hope to hear from you soon O:)

Yes you could switch the link only over but it won't work I don't think.
I did this to get slightly more steering angle and to delete the little hub extensions, I didn't like them.
I have turned the steering arms upside down, swapped them side to side and re mounted the drag link back to front on top of them. With spacers and a bit of trimming I can run my inner tierod ends right under the bulkhead so I can delete the hub extensions and still have no Ackerman effect.
It works well.

Yeah A little bit of Dremeling. You might not have to if you have alloy bulkheads and suspension piviots.

How about 1mm spacer to raise the steering bridge alittle ? I think i might do that as i have alum bulkhead and suspension mounting. I actually thought of inverting the link just that i have been fine tuning my 416 so i just put it a side, guess it's time tune my VDF again =)

Bro mind if i ask if you are still using the original steering post ? i actually installed ota-31 suspension kit, all i need now is a mod to take away the extension arms so that i can maximize the full potential of the kit. Right now i get full lock for the outer wheel but not the inner wheel

Yes I use the orignal steering posts upside down with a home made spacer underneath to raise the steering arm up so it clears the chassis plate.
Can you post a photo of your set up please? I will be better able to understand your problem.
Thanks.

LOL can't bro i am at overseas right now. In taiwan, going back to sg tomolo, and i got a com this sunday and my VDF is still not done up yet. *-| Once i return home i will have to Mod your set up + tuning for my VDF.

Anyway the problem is simple, see if you can understand. The steering link are not pushed forward enough, so whenever the steering locks at one side, it will get stuck and not turn to the other side. The only way is to extend the steering link connector outwards, so that the steering link will be pushed outwards and to use Ota-31 suspension kit on the VDF, i will have to delete the extension from the knuckles.
